Sp. gr. 0.67, bpt. 49° C. Mixture of hydrocarbons of low boiling point. obtained in the distillation of crude petroleum. It consists mainly of hexane and heptane, and is used for mixing with air to produce an illuminating gas in domestic gas machines and for fuel in stoves.
