perch, n. A pole; long staff; rod; a measure of length = 5J yards or 1 rod; any raised object upon which a bird lights or Perch. rests; a roost. — v. i. [perched (percht), perching.] To light or settle on a fixed body, as a bird.— v. t. To place on a fixed object or perch.
