Planet

The known ‘major’ planets arc, in order of their proximity to the sun, Mercury, Venus, the Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Uranus was discovered accidentally by Herschcl in 1781, and Neptune was discovered, after much calculation, by Leverrier and Adams, in 1845. Jupiter is the largest planet.
