Agamemnon

(ag-a-mem'non,) the general-in-chief of the Greek forces during the Trojan war, was the son of Atreus, king of Mycense, the brother of Menelaus, and the father of Orestes, Electra, and Iphigenia. After the destruction of Troy, he returned to Argolis, his native country, and was murdered by his wife, Clytemnestra, and her paramour, Ægi thus. [s. 12]
