pl. [Mod. Latin, from selache (q. v.).] Ichthy.: A synonym of Elasmobranch i (q. v.). sẽ-lā-chi-an, a. & 8. [SELACHIA.] A. As adj.: Of, belonging to, or resembling the genus Selache, the order Selachia, or the group Selachii. "It is not certain that the genus is not rather truly selachian." Nicholson: Palæont., ii. 163.
