condition of brain in which the ventricles or cavities are distended with fluid, due either to malformation or to chronic inflammation -it is either congenital or develops in the first few months of life, and the upper part of the head is increased in size out of proportion to the rest of the body; the rain may be pre ed on by the fluid, so that’ the intelligence is impaired, and bydrocephalics do not usually live long. Treatment is unsatisfactory, and best is merely maintenance of the health of the ae with nourishing foods and * tonics.
