Ignatius

ST., (ig-na's hus,) (surnamed THEOPHORUS,] a Father of the Church, suffered martyrdom at Rome, 107 A. D., after having held for 40 years the bishopric of Antioch. His epistles have come down to us, and are held in high estimation. [s. 476]
