Galloway

som an American lawyer; born near est River, Md., in 1731; was admitted to the bar in Philadelphia; member of the Pennsylvania A embly in 1757-1774. He held a seat in the Congre of 1774, where he suggested a plan of government headed by a president-general to be appointed by the king and to hold office during the latter’s pleasure, and a grand council elected every three years by the a emblies of the several colonies, Before the conclusion of the Revolutionary War he removed to England; and in 1788 was charged with high treason by the A embly of Pennsylvania, which ordered his estates to be sold. He died in Herts, England, Aug. 29, 1803.
