University' of,, is one of the two great English universities, as old as the 13th century, at least. It comprises 20 distinct corporate bodies. Every student must have spent three years in residence at the university before he can take the degree of B.A., LL.B., M.B., or B.Sc. Women who have fulfilled the conditions of residence and standing may compete in the tripos examinations. The university sends two members to the House of Commons, who are elected by the Senate. It has an income of about £30,000 and about 3000 undergraduate students; and it has a, library containing 300,000 volumes, besides manuscripts.
