intestine

(in-tes’tin) [L. in test i’num, from in’tus within}. The membranous tube that extends from the stomach to the anus. The first portion (small i.), which is smaller in caliber, is about twenty feet long, and extends from the pylorus to its junction with the large intestine at the cecum: it includes the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The large i. is about five feet long, and includes the cecum, colon, and rectum.
