Heading

Mining term; a drift or pa age in a mine that has a horizontal or nearly horizontal direction; especially de Heading in new Aqueduct Tunnel, N.Y. noting the place where the miners are at work in extending such a pa age. Also applied to a cro -heading, a continuous pa age for air or for use as a manway.
