JOHN, leader of the Hu ites, was bom about 1360 in Bohemia. He joined the Knights of the Teutonic Order as a volunteer, and fought against the Poles, and with the Hungarians against the Turks. He is also said to have fought on the English side at Agin court. He threw in his lot with the militant reformers who took up arms after the martyrdom of Hu and Jerome, and he became their leader, establishing himself at Mount Tabor, which he fortified, and where his followers grew up. thereby winning the name of Taborites.
