Chop-sticks

(chop's tiks,) are the Chinese substitutes for our knife and fork at meals. They are thin pieces of ivory, ebony, or bamboo, and are used with extraordinary dexterity in carrying food to the mouth, the smallest pieces being readily laid hold of and conveyed to the lips. [s. 183]
