[Short for anniversary, as if And on their [the Trinity's] sacred ann i verse decreed To stamp their image on the prom is'd seed. Dryden , Britannia Rediviva, 1. 29. an nodated (an'ō-da-ted), a. Generally used as synonymous with bowed - embowed , inwrapped , and nowed. A serpent an nodated about column which is surmounted by a coronet of Ragusa. anno Domini (an'ō dom'i-nī). Commonly abbreviated A. D.: as, the battle of Bunker Hill was fought A. D. (or A. D.) 1775. anno hejiræ (an'ō hej'i-rē). [ML.) In the year of the hejira, or flight of Mohammed from Mecca (A.
