MARCUS LICINIUS, (krās's us,) a triumvir of Rome, B. abt. 108 B. c. After having been, in 71, chosen consul along with Pompey, he, within a few years afterward, forined one of that triumvirate with Cæsar and Pompey which extinguished the senatorial power. Given the command in Syria, C. was defeated in Me so pot am i a by the Parthians, fell into the hands of their general Surena, and was treacherously killed, 53 B. c. C. was notorious for his great riches and insatiable avarice. [s. 240]
