[Gr. protagos =leading the van.] Chemistry: C116H291N4PO22(?). A phosphore ted, fatty body extracted from the brain-substance by alcohol of 85 per cent. It is colorle , without smell, slightly soluble in water and ether, very soluble in warm alcohol, from which it crystallizes in bundles of fine needles.
