[Gr. keras (gen it. keratos) =a horn, and nyxis =a puncturing.] Surg.: A term applied by German surgeons to the operation of couching, performed by introducing a needle through the cornea, and depre ing or breaking the opaque lens. ( Brande .) kěr-a-toph-ll-ite, s . [Etym. doubtful; prob. from Gr. keras (gen it. keratos ) =a horn; phyllos =a leaf, and suff. -ite ( Min .) (q. v.).] Min.: The same as CAR IN THINE (q. v.). kěr-a-toph-y-ta, s. [CERATOPHYTA.] kěr-a-tô-phyte, s. [KERATОРНУТА.] Zool .: An anthozoon, belonging to the old order Keratophyta (q. v.).
