WALDEMAR, LL.D., b. 1833. A istant Geologist of Mi i ippi 1855-57: State Geologist 1858; Prof. of Geology Univ. Mich. 1873, and of Agricultural Chemistry Univ. Cal. 1875.-His brother, JULIUS ERASMUS, 1825-1891, was connected with the U. S. Coast Survey 1845-85, and its head 1881-85.-Their father, THE ODOR ERASMUS, 1790-1873, was a judge at Zweibrücken 1821-35, came to America with his sons 1835, and spent his later years in Germany.
