[Sp., a load: see cargol and charge, n.] A Spanish unit both of weight and of measure, varying in different places and for different commodities, but generally about 275 pounds avoirdupois as a weight and 40 gallons as a measure. There are two kinds of carga - the "burro" or donkey carga of 150 lbs., and the "mule" carga of 300. L. Hamilton , Mex. Handbook, p. 28.
