The island of Bali received an influx from Java on the overthrow of the capital of the latter island (Maja-pah it) by Moslems about 1455 to 1460 a.c. The language, like that of Java, is Malay; but the Bali is more archaic, representing the speech of the 15th century. The alphabets of the two islands are very similar.
