A wood-wind instr. with 8 finger-holes and 25 keys, having a compa of 4 octaves, and so constructed that from 4 to 6 tones could be produced at once. Inv. by We in rich of Heiligenstadt in 1828; improved by Leo Schmidt in 1832, by whom it was called the Apo/lo-Lyra.
