Allerion, or Alerion

[Fr. alérion, from Lat. ala, wing.] ( Her.) An imaginary bird like an eagle, without beak or feet, so called because they have nothing perfect but the wings. They differ from Martlets in that they are represented facing, with the wings expanded. Alleviate, v. a.
