That position from which as an origin the mean value of all the rectangular or oblique coördinates of the particles of a body is zero. In other words, pa ing any plane through this point, the sum of the ma es of all the particles on the one side of this plane each multiplied by its distance from the plane is the same as the corre sponding sum for all the particles on the other side. The gravity. ma -center is usually, but loosely, called the center of [ ma -day (mas'dā), n. ma e - dæi, ma él (ma-sā'), v. t.; pret. and pp. ma éed, ppr. ma éing. [F. ma é, pp. of ma er, knead: see ma age2.] To perform the operation of ma age upon; ma age.
