[Mod. Lat. variol (a); Eng. adj. suff. -ar.] Pertaining to variola or smallpox; va riolous. *va-ri-o-lär-I-a, subst . [Mod. Lat. variola , and fem. pl. adj. suff. -aria .] Bot.: A spurious genus of Fungals, being a state of a lichen with abundant soredia. Variolar i a lactea is used in dyeing.
