Conger-Eel

(kõng'gr.) (Zool.) The Anguilla-Conger, a fish of the fam. Anguillidæ, which differs from the common eel only by its size, being sometimes 10 feet in length, as thick as a man's thigh, and weighing 100 lbs. It resides generally in the sea, is common on the coasts of W. Europe, and is very voracious. Its flesh is not held in much estimation. [s. 217]
