PAROLE

In Military matters, the allowing of prisoners to enjoy certain indulgences, on their giving their word of honour {parole d'honneur) that they will not serve during the continuance of the war against the country by which they are liberated, or upon their pledging their word to abide by such other conditions as may be stipulated.
