[ ophthalmophorethamore, φέρειν E. bear1 bear1.] A part of the head of a which covers the compound eye. gastropod specialized to support or contain the eye-case, or that part of the integument a pupa = specialized to eyes; s; an ommatophore. ophthalmophorium (of-thal-mo-fo'ri-um), n.; pl. 1. ophthalmophoria (-a). [NL.: [NL.: see ophthal al mophore.] Same as ophthalmophore. ophthalmophorous (of-thal-mof'ō-rus), a. [As ophthalmophore + -ous.] Bearing or supporting the eyes, as a part of the head of a gastro pod; pertaining to an ophthalmophore. rt
