A ociation, 1902; knighted, 1914. native state, Malwa, Central India; consists of two united states with two chiefs; capital, Dewas, Area, 886 sq. miles. Pop. 117,216. DE WET, CHRISTIAN! (1854-1922), Orange Free State general and politician; famed for guerrilla tactics during S. African War, 1899-1902; early in Great War, Oct. 1914, led a revolt, but was met and routed by Botha; escaped, but was ultimately captured and condemned to six years’ imprisonment and fine of $10,000.
