A diatomic alcohol, C,H,p0=C,Hg-(OH),, formed from quartane by the substitution of two molecules of hydroxyl for two atoms of hydrogen, or from a double molecule of water by the substitution of a molecule of b. for half the hydrogen. [B, Pi] —B’gallic acid. Gallic acid in which b. replaces two atoms oi hydrogen; a term expre ive, according to Remsen and Coale, of the probable constitution of sinapic acid. [B.J—B. glycol.
