[Ru . sopelka, dim. of sopeli, a pipe.] A musical reed-instrument popular in southern Ru ia. It is about 15 inches long, made of elder-wood, with a bra mouthpiece and eight large and seven small finger-holes. sopert, n. An old spelling of soaper, supper. Soper rifle.
