Occlusion

Property which some metals po e of absorbing gases. Platinum at a red heat will occlude four times its volume of hydrogen. Palladium in the form of foil, at 100° C., occludes 643 times its volume of hydrogen. By heating the metal to redne in a vacuum, the gas may be driven out and measured. See ABSORBING POWER.
