HEADLAND

In Geography, a term nearly synonymous with cape, mull, or promontory; which see. Headland, or Head Ridoe, in Agriculture, is a ridge or border, commonly ten or twelve feet broad, which is continued round a field in some cases, and which in others is only formed at the two opposite sides, for the purpose of affording space for the horses to turn on while ploughing.
