The son ofPriam, whose judgment on Mount Ida, in favor of the beauty of Venus(towhom he awarded the golden apple, rather than toJuno or Minerva), obtained for him the promise of Helen, whom he afterwards carried off from the house of her husband. In the Trojan War, to which this gave rise, he was not distinguished; but the death ofAchilles is ascribed to him. And he is said to have died of a wound from one of the arrows of Phi loc tetes.
