Constituting or having the form of an oxy strongyl us, as a sponge-spicule. oxy strongyl us (ok-si-str on'ji-lus), n.; pl. oxy strongyl i (-lī). [NL., oxy sulphid, oxysulphide (ok-si-sul'fid, -fid or -fid), n. [ oxy ( gen ) + sulphid.] A sulphid in which one atom of sulphur is replaced by oxygen: as, antimony oxy sulphid, Sb2OS2. oxy sulphuret (ok-si-sul'fu-ret), n. [ Oxytelinæ (ok-sit-e-li'nē), n. pl. [NL., Oxy tel us +-ina.] A subfamily of Staphylinid a, typified by the genus Oxytelus. It is a large group of some 15 genera, having the prothoracic stigmata invisible; antennæ inserted under the lateral margin of the front; the labrum corneous, usually with membranous appendages; no ocelli; abdomen of seven distinct segments; anterior coxæ conical and prominent; and tarsi of five or three joints.
