(1876); c. a comic opera, church services, madrigal “When at Chloe’s Eyes I Gaze” (Madr. Soc. prize, 1881), many pop. songs, etc. Moiseiwitsch (m6-i-sa’-i-vich), Benno, b. Ode a, Feb. 22, 1890; pianist; studied with Klimoff at Ode a Acad., winning Rubin stein Stipend, also with Leschetizky, Vienna; made début in England with succ., 1908, followed by orchestral and recital appearances throughout British Empire and on continent, also in U. S.; has particular reputation for Chopin playing, but repertoire incl. cla ic and modern works.
