Patrol

(pat'rōl.) [Fr. pat rouille.] (Milit.) A detachment,which usually consists of from four to eight men, under a corporal. They are drawn from the posts of a garrison town, and march, at the hour appointed by the commandant, through the streets to repre disorder. [s. 690]
