, a surname of Juno among the Romans. She received it because she advised them to sacrifice a pregnant sow to Cybele, to avert an earthquake. Cicero , De Div in at i one , bk. 1 , ch. 15 . Livy says ( bk. 7 , ch. 28 ) that a temple was vowed to Juno under this name, by the dictator Furius, when the Romans waged war against the Aurunci, and that the temple was raised to the godde by the senate, on the spot where the house of Manlius Capitol in us had formerly stood. Suidas , however, says, that Juno was surnamed Moneta , from a uring the Romans, when in the war against Pyrrhus they complained of want of pecuniary resources, that money could never fail to those who cultivated justice.
