albinism

(al’bin-izm) [L. af/bus white]. Abnormal, but not pathologic, whitene of the skin, hair, and eyes; a chromo derma. The affection may be either partial or total, in which latter case it is known as albinis’mus universa’lis. This condition is often attended with astigmatism, photophobia, and nystagmus.
