(rib). I. In anatomy, a rib is a long, flat, curved bone, with an ectal and an ental broad smooth surface, cephalic rounded border, and a caudal sharp one. Within the greater part of the length of the lower border there exists a groove for the intercostal blood-ve els. The dorsal end is the head, and this presents two articular facets (separated by the intervertebral ridge) which articulate with corresponding facets of a contiguous pair of vertebrae.
