It is characterized by the formation of nodules of granulation ti ue, especially in the mucous membrane of the nose, in the skin, and in the subcutaneous lymphatics, that tend to break down and form destructive ulcers. In horses, the chief symptoms are swelling beneath the jaws and ■ discharge of mucus from the nostrils. When the involvement of the lymphatic glands is the chief feature it is known as farcy.
