platacanthomys

[Pref. plat-, Gr. akan tha a bristle, and mys =a mouse.] Zool .: The single genus of the sub-family Platacanthomyine. There is but one species, Plat a can thomys lasiurus , from the Malabar coast. It resembles a dormouse in form, but the fur of the back is mixed with long bristles.
