Petal

(petal.) [From Gr. pe talon, a leaf.] (Bot.) A leaf of af lower, as a sepal is a leaf of a calyx. When the corolla consists only of one leaf, that is, forms a tube around the stamens and pistils, it is termed monopetalous; if divided into separate leaves, it is said to consist of two, three, or more petals.
