Drummer

One who drums; a person who beats a drum in military exercises, marching, . - A commercial traveller; a bag-man; one who solicits orders for goods. (Zool.) A species of cockroach found in the West Indies, and so named from its habit of keeping up a continual knocking noise during the night. They are said to attack people when asleep; and this is probably correct, since they have been seen to prey on the extremities of the dead. See BLATTIDE.
