[Lat. acclivis = sloping upwards: ad = to; clivus = a slope; from the root kli or klin , seen in Gr. κλίνω (klino) to cause to bend; Lat. declino = to decline, to bend down; inclino = to bend in, to incline.] Sloping upwards, rising, steep.
