Coasting

n. Sailing along or near a coast, or from port to port on a certain coast. Coasting-trade. (Com.) The trade which is carried on between ports in the same country. Different laws regulate this department of trade in different countries, but, generally, the policy has been maintained of excluding foreigners from all participation in it. Coasting-ve el, (or Coaster .) ( Naut .) A ve el that performs coasting-voyages only; - opposed to a sea going ship.
