Limonum

Lemon. The fruit of Citrus limonum, of the same genus as the orange and the lime. The rind contains a volatile oil, isomeric with oil of turpentine. The pulp yields about 7 per cent, of citric acid, which has about the same properties as acetic acid, but has much value as a refrigerant and antiscorbutic. The expre ed juice is largely employed as a refrigerant drink in fevers. L., Ol., the volatile oil. Dose n. L., Spt., " e ence of lemon," 6 parts of oil and 4 of peel in 90 parts of alcohol.
