the ascription to the Deity of qualities which properly belong to human beings: or, more generally, a tendency to represent all things under conceptions derived trom man’s personal experience. Anthropomorphism is most prominently exemplif ied in religious thought; it is impo ib le for the religious mind to formulate the relations between God and man except by attributing to Him a nature akin to our own.
