Pectoral

(pěk'to-ral.) [From L. pectus, the breast.] (Anat.) That which has reference or belongs to the chest or breast; as, in Ichthyology, pectoral fins are those anterior and lateral fins which are placed on the sides behind the gills. Such fins are frequently called simply pectorals. [s. 692]
