Quarter-evil

(faoor’-ter-e-vil). An infectious disease of cattle prevalent during the summer-months, and characterized by the appearance of irregular emphysematous swellings of the subcutaneous ti ue and muscles, especially over the quarters, hence the name. It is also called symptomatic anthrax, or black-leg. 541
