(ki-maf’il-ah) [Gr. χεῖμα winter + φιλεῖν to love]. 1. A genus of ericaceous plants. 2. The U. S. P. designation of the leaves of C. umbella’ta, or pipsi ewa. It is tonic and diuretic, astringent, and irritant: used in scrofula, nephritis, and cystitis. Dose.of fluidextract, 1-2 dr. (4-8 c.c.).
